A hunter safety training course will be offered Aug. 16, 18, and 20. The course, sponsored by the Greene County conservation board, is scheduled for 6:30 to 9 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. These will be held at the Milwaukee Road depot in Jefferson. The class on Saturday will be located at Slininger Woods from 8 am to 4 pm. All three classes must be attended. Each participant is asked to bring a sack lunch on Saturday.
All persons born after Jan. 1, 1972, are required to have a certificate of completion of a hunter safety course before purchasing an Iowa hunting license. Minimum age for the course is 12. There is no cost.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources now requires students to register for this class online. Go to the Iowa DNR website and find the Hunter Safety Certification link. This will lead you to the Greene County upcoming class. This site will show time and location and a “register now” link. If you have trouble finding this, contact Dan Towers, Greene County Conservation, at 515-386-5674.
